Soft tissue fillers offer a versatile, nonsurgical option for facial augmentation and contouring with a multitude of potential aesthetic applications. The ideal tissue filler for facial augmentation and contouring should be nonallergenic, durable, easy to inject, "user-friendly," cost-effective, and malleable enough to provide a "natural" look and feel. Further, an ideal product should degrade naturally, require no reconstitution or refrigeration, have a long shelf-life, evoke minimal pain on injection, require minimal downtime, and exhibit few side effects.

Radiesse - Long lasting deep wrinkle and facial fold fillerWrinkles, light folds and thin lips can be corrected with various dermal fillers - Restylane and Juvederm being the most popular to date. Yet, for high frequency muscle movement areas, such as the nasolabial folds and marionette lines, a different product works better. Radiesse is the perfect filler for deeper folds in areas that get a constant muscle workout. It corrects better with less product, lasts longer and feels as natural as your own skin.

Radiesse: Its unique profile makes it particularly well suited for facial augmentation and contouring. In particular, its biocompatibility, ease of use, and enhanced durability offer physicians flexibility in both injection and areas of application.

Special Radiesse advantages include:

  • A biocompatible product that does not require pre-testing
  • Stimulates your natural collagen production for longer results
  • Provides immediate full-correction
  • Degrades gently and evenly over time

What makes Radiesse different from other fillers?

Radiesse is made of unique calcium-based microspheres suspended in a natural gel that is injected into your skin as simply as any other skin filler.
The microscopic spheres and the water-gel suspension provide a scaffolding. Your own tissue grows into this matrix, keeping the injected material in place. It stays soft and pliable and feels like your own skin. It is especially suitable for deep folds that require a more dense, durable filler product that is injected into the deeper layer of your skin.

Longevity: The microspheres of CaHA have been shown to last up to seven years clinically. Radiesse should provide a long lasting correction, however individual results may vary, affected by your age, skin type, lifestyle and muscle activity.

Radiesse is composed of microspheres of CaHA suspended in a matrix composed of water, glycerin, and sodium carboxymethylcellulose. CaHA is a mineral found in bones and teeth. Radiesse has been safely used for years and has FDA approval as a soft tissue marker for radiologic procedures and as an implant for injection laryngoplasty.

Where Can It Be Used
Radiesse® can be used on the following areas (see picture below for facial feature):

  • Forehead frowns (Worry Lines)
  • Folds from nose to mouth (Nasolabial Lines)
  • Depressed corners of the mouth (Marionette Lines)
  • Smile Lines either side of the mouth
  • Chin augmentation
  • Jawline
  • Nasal correction
  • Post-traumatic, post-surgery and other corrections

Radiesse can be used to treat virtually any rhytid of the face. It is excellent for filling in prominent melolabial folds, marionette lines, and infracommisural folds. Radiesse also works well in the chin-lip crease and the various vertical and horizontal wrinkles around the lips that can be encountered. Radiesse is great for adding volume and shape to the lips and can help fill in superficial depressed scars as well.

Radiesse Injection

Facial contouring applications for injectable CaHA

What are Radiesse treatments like?

A simple out-patient procedure, your Radiesse injections are very similar to those of fillers such as Juvederm or Restylane. The procedure takes about 15 minutes. Any injection discomfort is minimized or eliminated by use of a topical cream (EMLA). Pain blocks may also be performed immediately before the procedure.

Following the simple injections, you may immediately return back to daily activities, however, treatment sites may be swollen for 1-2 days.

There is also potential for bruising at the injection site, which are easily covered with makeup.

How long will my Radiesse results last?

Depending on the areas treated, most of your correction should last many months, or even years. Radiesse patients usually see results that last between 1 to 2 years.

Touch up treatments may be necessary to maintain your desired level of correction and are easily acquired with the use of Radiesse mini-syringes made for this purpose.

Treatments frequently combined with Radiesse Injections

  • Botox for relaxing frown lines and furrows, softening crows' feet and lifting the brow
  • Laser/IPL for tightening sagging skin on the face, and tightening the neck and abdomen
  • Restylane for lip augmentation and wrinkles
